Mathilde Santing
A website built like a stage, translating intimacy into visuals through the artist's own signature.
The project began with the “Fidelity” poster for Dutch singer Mathilde Santing, which defined the visual tone and conceptual direction later extended into the website.
The goal was to translate the emotional warmth and authenticity of Mathilde's performances into a digital format that feels both elegant and deeply personal.
Concept & Visual Direction
The website was conceived as a stage: a space where light, texture, and gesture work together to highlight the artist. The central idea was intimacy and the direct emotional connection between Mathilde and her audience.
Her handwritten Fidelity signature became the key visual anchor, symbolizing artistic honesty and turning typography into an extension of her voice.
Warm tones, soft gradients, and spotlights echo stage lighting, reinforcing the feeling of presence. The layout was kept clean and hierarchical, allowing content - especially tour information - to remain the focus.
User Experience
The navigation was designed to feel effortless and continuous. Users can move seamlessly from the homepage to the discography or biography without losing immersion.
An interactive carousel allows visitors to explore Mathilde's discography at a glance. Each album "flips" to reveal quick information on the back, creating a tactile and engaging way to browse her work. For those seeking a deeper dive, the dedicated Discography page offers a complete view with extended details and links.
The new design also introduced prominent access points to music streaming platforms in both the main menu and the footer - a feature missing from the previous website. This integration helps direct users from visual discovery to active listening, reinforcing Mathilde's digital presence across channels.
Finally, the Vanity page, featured in the footer, preserves a piece of Mathilde's digital legacy. Inherited from her previous website, it showcases a curated gallery of photographs spanning different moments of her career.
Technical Implementation
The site was developed in Next.js, with modular components built for flexibility and long-term consistency. Animations and depth effects were implemented using Framer Motion and Three.js to create smooth, cinematic transitions without compromising performance.
Project Outcomes
The result is a digital presence that feels like an extension of Mathilde herself: warm, refined, and sincere. The website not only promotes upcoming performances but also offers visitors a glimpse into the emotional core of her music. It transforms what could be a static portfolio into an intimate encounter between artist and audience.
